Bybit account frozen: risk control and KYC withdrawal limits

Bybit has two very different kinds of "freeze": risk control (a review) and withdrawal limits on accounts without full KYC. They are resolved in completely different ways.

Check your KYC status first

A large share of Bybit "freezes" are simply withdrawal limits on accounts that are not fully verified. If a large withdrawal fails while small ones go through, you are not blocked — you have hit a limit, and completing the next KYC tier resolves it.

If it is risk control

A full freeze on transactions accompanied by a review notice follows the standard cycle: a document request (source of funds, the origin of a particular deposit, identity confirmation) → one complete answer → 2–6 weeks of review. The framework for that answer is in our guide to source of funds requests.

A Bybit specific: derivatives

If the frozen account holds leveraged positions, ask in the ticket straight away what happens to them: practice varies between platforms, and forced liquidation during a freeze is a separate ground for claim where it has caused a loss.

Frequently asked questions

Why has Bybit frozen my account?

Either incomplete-KYC limits (resolved by verification), or risk control with a document request, or an external order. The in-account notice and the email tell you which.

Bybit is demanding KYC for a withdrawal — is that lawful?

Yes: the platform's right to request verification at the point of withdrawal is set out in the user agreement and required by the AML rules attached to its licences.
